Black Fox is accepting applications for an Senior Computer Systems Programmer. This position will support ongoing operations for a state level government agency in Hanover, Maryland.

 

Job Description:

  • Create and/or maintain operating systems, communications software, database packages, compilers, repositories, and utility and assembler programs.

  • Modify existing software and develop special- purpose software to ensure efficiency and integrity between systems and applications.


Education:

  • A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or other related scientific

  • or technical discipline or three (3) years of equivalent experience in a related field.

  • A Master's Degree is preferred.

 

General Experience:

  • General Experience: Must have twelve (12) years of computer experience in information systems design.

 

Specialized Experience:

  • At least ten (10) years of experience in IT systems analysis and programming.

 

Responsibilities:

  • This resource is required to provide maintenance and operation of MDOT's Capital Programming and Management System (CPMS).

  • The resource must fully understand all four versions of CPMS deployed across the Department as well as the business processes of each TBU within the Department, specifically processes related to capital programming.

  • A strong knowledge of CPMS source programming code is required. The resource must be available to work with the capital programming staff at each TBU's home site as required.

  • The resource must quickly respond to and resolve defects within CPMS. The resource must respond to user questions, modify code, provide configuration management, create and modify reports, manage various versions of CPMS, and assist with data migration to MDOT's new capital programming system, CMAPS.

  • The resource must be able to begin work immediately upon award.

  • The resource must have extensive experience with all versions/releases of Microsoft Access, Microsoft Windows Operating System, Visual Basic for Applications, and most importantly, all four versions of CPMS deployed throughout the Department.

  • The resource must also have a working knowledge of the new CMAPS system.

  • The resource may be required to work with MDOT FMIS, mainly for data extraction. Strong skills in programming documentation also required.
